Rankin Ranch is the perfect location groups to gather. Plan your next club meeting, family celebration, or business luncheon at our unique location. Some groups take advantage of our guest ranch activities, while others simply enjoy the peaceful ranch atmosphere with no interruptions. It is an “unplugged” experience as there is no cell service in our little mountain valley and limited wi-fi. This lends itself to focused meetings and building camaraderie among attendees without interruptions from the outside world.
For several years we have had the pleasure of hosting luncheon meetings for the Kern County Cattle Women, Golden Girls, and Kern Valley Historical Society. Some groups are “strictly business”, while others allow time to enjoy hearing stories of early day Rankin Ranch history which we are happy to share with you.
Rankin Ranch is also a wonderful location for a family party or gathering. We are happy to help you plan that special birthday or anniversary celebration. Time together at the ranch creates memories that will last a lifetime. Reservations are taken up to one year in advance. Early booking is recommended for large parties.
Our ranch is the perfect setting for your family reunion. Rankin Ranch’s location in central California makes it ideal for families that are spread throughout the state. Many family members fly from across the country to Los Angeles (2 ½ hours from the ranch) or to Bakersfield (1 hour away) and drive up to the ranch to join their family. We are happy to have you join us, whether you need just two rooms or all fourteen rooms. If you reserve our entire accommodations for your group, we can plan our activities to meet your needs. Over the years, we have many smaller family units hold reunions at the ranch as well. They enjoy their family time, but also have fun meeting new friends.
THE WEISBROD FAMILY
The Weisbrods first visited the ranch in the early 1980’s and it became a tradition for Anya and her mother, Ann, to spend time together at the ranch. Anya was just 10 years old when they first came and she said, “I cried my eyes out when we had to say goodbye, and made my mom promise to bring me back. She kept her word, and we went back every year through my college days.” Years later, Anya was back, this time with her niece and nephew. She was excited to introduce them to the ranch and share this special place where she had so many fond memories. Anya said, “It was amazing to see how naturally kids just slip into the daily ranch routine and come to love all the people there.” When it came time to celebrate her parent’s 50th Wedding Anniversary the planning began. It was a week long, three-generational celebration with family from Ohio, Arizona, and California. They enjoyed the week together creating memories that will last a lifetime. Anya preserved these memories by giving each of her family members a 100 page photo book with all of the photos from their trip to the ranch. Anya says to this day she still cries when she has to say good bye “because when I’m there I feel like that happy 10 year old girl again! The Rankins have a way of making you feel a part of their family.”
THE LANE FAMILY
We enjoy seeing the Lane Family each summer for their annual Family Reunion. Over the course of their 16 years visiting, we have enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow in both number and height. Many miles separate their family within California and back to the East Coast, but this trip brings all of the cousins together to have a week catching up and making memories. Mary was kind enough to share a letter that her 15 year old granddaughter, Emma, sent following their most recent trip to the ranch.
“Dear Grandma, Thank you so much for letting me come to Rankin Ranch for another year. This one was the best by far. It was great to ride on the sun rise ride, eat the delicious Mexican food, and of course be with the whole family. I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you taking us to the ranch for the past 15 years. This is definitely the highlight of my whole summer. I am always so upset when I have to leave. Thank you so much for everything. Love, Emma”
THE FELDMAN FAMILY REUNION AND BIRTHDAY
We just returned from the Rankin Ranch for my husband’s 65th Birthday Celebration. We had all our children, and grandchildren with us, which totaled 12. It was the best family vacation ever. We have taken the Disney Cruise, rented a villa with a maid and a butler, went to a resort up in Washington State, and the Rankin Ranch ranked #1 in our family experiences. The Rankins run a tight ship, but with grace and warmth. The children 6, 6, 4, 18mo., 6mo. were all happy as can be. The kids’ camp was wonderful and kept them busy when not doing activities with the family.
We were able to hire babysitters when we needed them for the two babies, which made everything perfect. The night time activities were all geared for the children and so much fun. There is not one bad thing I can say of this vacation, all 12 people were happy and, the ones that could talk, concurred that this was the best family vacation!!!!
Bring your family, bring your friends you will not be disappointed!

THE SCHAFFER FAMILY
Our friendship with Bob and Doris Schaffer goes back to the very beginning. Our guest ranch opened in 1965 and their first ranch vacation was in 1967. Over the past several decades they have visited the ranch many times with their children and grandchildren. We were so pleased to have them celebrate their Golden Anniversary at the ranch with family and friends, and then follow up with their 60th anniversary celebration in 2013. It warms our hearts to know that the ranch has a special place in their family and we always look forward to their next visit.
A variety of groups have also found Rankin Ranch to be the perfect location for retreats. Over the years we have had several groups join us including; women’s retreats, religious gatherings, business team building, quilters, and more. We welcome groups during our regular guest ranch season to join our other guests and enjoy our planned activities. If you are looking for a custom getaway and have a group of 24 or more, we encourage you to reserve all of our rooms. We can schedule our activities around your group’s needs. We are also happy to accommodate you during the months that the ranch is closed with a minimum of 24 overnight guests. You will enjoy Rankin Ranch’s secluded location offering some peace and quiet with activities for all to enjoy. Regular Season and Off Season rates apply during the respective times. Please call for special pricing for the moths that the ranch is closed.
A group of families from the La Canada area found Rankin Ranch to be the perfect location for their weekend “family camp.” Their group of 10 families enjoyed all of the ranch activities and the moms especially appreciated the home cooked meals and daily maid service.
Many groups and businesses have also found Rankin Ranch to be the perfect location for small retreats and conferences. Our large recreation room becomes the meeting facility for those requesting our entire accommodations. If you have a group of 20 to 30 people and need a secluded location for a meeting or gathering…and some peace and quiet…RANKIN RANCH is the perfect spot for you. You can book our entire accommodation and have the whole place to yourself!
We have been happy to host many businesses throughout the years. They range from large to small groups and varied in length of stay. All the groups have complemented us on the flexibility of our staff and schedule to accommodate their group’s needs. Several of the business retreats included spouses. While business meetings were taking place, family members enjoyed horseback riding, swimming, fishing, and other ranch activities then the entire group gathered for meals.
“BJ Services found the Quarter Circle U RANKIN RANCH the “Perfect Business Retreat”. We accomplished a lot, and loved the quiet privacy Rankin Ranch offers. Everyone left refreshed and ready to tackle the challenges facing our industry.” – Rick Pierucci, BJ Services
“Our group enjoyed the quiet and confidential meeting space, fun activities and most of all the flexibility of our schedule. We met most of the day, but always found a little time late in the afternoon to enjoy the outdoors on horseback.” – Col. Ed Fager, Air National Guard
“One of the best things about the Ranch was our whole company could spend time together. Most of the time many of us are on the road or even in the office we have tasks that do not allow us time to build relationships. Rankin Ranch provided that opportunity.” – Bob Kingsbury, The Cutler Group
