Do you know that feeling when you step outside, the cool air brushes against your face, your breath in the fresh, crisp air, and then you see a splendid array of colors in motion as the trees move with the wind? Yep, that’s fall, and it’s one of the best places to experience this season is booking it down here to Southern California and check in at the Rankin Ranch. We are not in short supply of grand vistas for you and your family this fall.
We’ve got you covered with a number of our favorite areas and things to do while you watch nature transition to one of the most beautiful seasons.
Horseback Riding
We have horses, so please take advantage of seeing California from this special viewpoint. Available for ages six and older, our horseback riding adventures are suitable for all skill levels. We will help introduce guests to horseback riding at the ranch and find the best steed for you so you can get to marvel at the scenes.
Biking
If you need something a little more maneuverable and quicker, there is Lion’s Trail nearby for cyclists. It’s 13 miles long, so you’ll get to see a lot on this one trail, and it climbs in elevation by nearly 3,000 feet. Tear up the trails or take your time taking pictures of the majestic scenery.
The Huntington Botanical Gardens
This garden is more than a two-hour drive away from the Rankin Ranch, but it’s worth it. Here you get an opportunity to see American Sweetgum, Koelreuteria Henryi, and Lion’s Ear at their peak beauty in autumn.
Don’t Miss These Fall Events Too
We are not far from some unique and exciting events during the fall months. Here’s a brief rundown of what you can see.

- Kern River Rockin Blues Fest in Kernville, September 23 – 26
- October Fun Fest at Murray Family Farms, October 1 – 31

There’s More to Experience Back at the Ranch
There’s more to Rankin Ranch than the beautiful vistas. We’ll serve you breakfast and dinner. Maybe catch some of the fall colors from years prior in the photos of family members dating back to the mid-1800s in Southern California. If you visit Southern California in the fall, you can enjoy our offseason rates, the lowest of the year! Book your trip soon. Please check availability online or call us at 1-661-867-2511.
