Cattle Ranching Legacy Continues

Cattle Ranching Legacy Continues

November 19th, 2014

I am Amanda Rankin Barrett and I have the privilege of continuing a long time family cattle ranching legacy. For 151 years my family has been raisingAmanda Rankin Barrett Hereford cattle in central California and now it is my turn to help continue this legacy.  I live and work on our ranch and we would be happy to have you come visit us.  In addition to our cattle ranch, we have a guest ranch where people from throughout the United States and around the world come to get a taste of ranch life, a moment away from their hectic city lifestyle enjoying the great outdoors.

Today the 4th, 5th, and 6th generations of my family work together to ensure the success of our operations.  For our cattle ranch, this means caring for the cattle and the land which they graze to produce high quality beef.  As for our guest ranch, we strive to provide a unique vacation experience with memories to last a lifetime.  The diversification of our business allows our family to continue the ranch life that our ancestors established so many years ago and share this with our guests.

I hope our blog will give you the opportunity to saddle up and ride with me to see the daily life on our ranch. My days are varied between riding with the cowboys, managing the office work, and caring for our guests.  Every day is different and that is what keeps life exciting.  I hope you will enjoy the journey and will ask questions along the way.

I grew up on the ranch and have been instilled with a passion for our way of life. My father always says that, “he has never ‘worked’ a day in his life because he loves what he does.”  I have been home on the ranch full time since graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2008.  I now understand what he meant all the times that he said that.  There is a love for the ranch in my heart and soul that grows stronger each day and even when facing great challenges this passion is unwavering.
