Ranch Job Descriptions

Cook
Morning Shift 5:30-1:30
Evening Shift 5:00-8:30 OR Extended Evening Shift 3:00-8:30
Main Priorities but not limited to:
Prepare food for all meals
Keep workspace, walk in refrigerator, freezers, and food shelves organized/clean
Assist in serving and clearing lunch and dinner
Keep workspace organized and clean
Current Serve Safe Food Handlers Certification (must be obtained prior to starting work)

Prep Cook/Platter Maker
Morning Shift 6:30-1:30
No Evening Shift
Main Priorities but not limited to:
Prepare platters and assist with food for all meals
Keep workspace, walk in refrigerator, freezers, and food shelves organized/clean
Assist in serving and clearing lunch and dinner
Current Serve Safe Food Handlers Certification (must be obtained prior to starting work)

Dishwasher
Morning Shift 6:30-1:30
Evening Shift 6:00-8:30
Main Priorities but not limited to:
Test Dishwasher Levels
Wash dishes according to guidelines set by management
Put away dishes in appropriate location
Keep work space clean
Cleaning the recreation room and bathrooms
Current Serve Safe Food Handlers Certification (must be obtained prior to starting work)

Waiter/Server
Morning Shift 6:30-1:30
Evening Shift 5:00-8:30
Main Priorities but not limited to:
Prepare dining room, terrace, and patio for all meals and snacks
Serve and clear all meals
Build positive relationship with guest
Have a base knowledge of what is in the dishes being served (allergies etc.)
Keep dining room clean (clean tables and chairs, clean buffet tables, vacuum etc.)
Care for kitchen linens
Current Serve Safe Food Handlers Certification (must be obtained prior to starting work)

Housekeeper
Shift 8:30-4:00
Daily maid service is carried out by our housekeeping team in our cabins. A deep cleaning is done between guest stays. Responsibilities include…
Clean sleeping area of cabin. Tasks include vacuuming carpet, making beds, wiping down surfaces, taking out trash, and washing windows.
Cleaning of bathrooms. Tasks include scrubbing shower/bathtub, mopping floors, wiping counters, cleaning toilets, washing mirrors, and replenishing linens.
Wash, dry, and fold all linens.
Maintain a clean work area.
Maintain health and sanitary requirements

Children’s Program
Morning Shift 8:30-4:00
Evening Shift 5:00-8:30
Children’s Program team is responsible for carrying out fun activities for children ages 4 – 11. The typical morning shift is 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and the evening shift 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Comfortable working with children and leading activities (arts and crafts, hikes, games, etc.)
Enjoyment of the outdoors and farm animals. The children assist with feeding the animals each evening.
Must be able to swim. Lead the children in pool activities daily.
Youthful energy to create a fun environment and patience with a variety of personalities.
Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in the heat.
First Aid and CPR Certification (must be obtained prior to starting work)
Current Serve Safe Food Handlers Certification (must be obtained prior to starting work)

Wrangler/Trail Guide
Full Day Shift 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Half Day Shift 6:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
*Requires extensive equine experience.
Wranglers take ranch guests on guided trail rides.
Care for horses and tack. Requires extensive equine experience.
Take guests on guided trail rides. Requires strong communication skills and an enjoyment of meeting new people.
Assist guests during trail rides. Requires mounting/dismounting your horse from the ground 10+ times each day.
Feeding horses. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and move a 120 lb hay bale.
Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in the heat.
Other tasks on a needed basis.
First Aid and CPR Certification (must be obtained prior to starting work)

Groundskeeper
Shift 6:30-2:00
Maintain ranch grounds in a clean and welcoming way
Water trees, bushes, and other plants
Trim/prune trees, bushes, and other plants
Mow grass and edge utilizing a riding lawn mower or push mower and weed eater
Clean swimming pool
Clean farm animal pens
Other tasks as need to assist other team members

Compensation

Pay Rate:  $16/hour + Overtime $24/hr (over 8 hrs per day or 40 hrs per week)

Guest Gratuities (Tips):  Our guests often leave gratuities in the “tip fund” in the office to be shared with all ranch employees.  You will receive a check for your portion of the tip fund once per month.  This amounts to several more dollars per hour.  Some guests will tip directly with cash.

Withholdings:  We will withhold taxes from your paycheck and tip fund check for the state of California and the federal government.  This is required by law.

Meals: You are welcome to have any meals that fall during your work shift.   If you are living at the ranch three meals a day are provided for you.

Housing:  We have limited employee housing available for team members from out of the area.  Some spaces are private others are shared.
