Lodging is provided in our comfortable mountain cabins which are surrounded by beautiful scenes of nature. They are all within a short walking distance from the main recreation area, but you can also drive right to your room. Click on “Regular Rooms” and “Deluxe Rooms” below for a full description of each room type and decide which accommodations will be best for you. Our lodging options include a total of seven duplex cabins (14 rooms) and our Conestoga Covered Wagon. These duplex cabins can be reserved as a single room or two connecting rooms. We can accommodate 30 to 50 guests. This small number adds to the personal, charming atmosphere…somewhat like that of a private house party.
Meals are great at Rankin Ranch. Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining room. Guests enjoy the photos of family members dating back to the mid 1800’s, and the water color paintings by Helen Rankin and Alice Rankin Beard. An old Houser cupboard and other cherished family heirlooms are used every day. Each evening when the dinner bell rings at 6:30. Salads are prepared, and served at your table…and a delicious buffet dinner follows. Everybody loves our home cooked meals…complete with fresh vegetables, top quality meats, and homemade breads and desserts. We’re asked often about vegetarian diets…each lunch and dinner has a variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, pasta and breads. During the summer months dinner is served in the front yard of the original Rankin Home which was built in the 1870’s. It is the perfect setting for outdoor dining in the fresh mountain air.
Everyone loves our food. A hearty breakfast is served in the dining room anytime between 7:30 and 9:00am. If you are a light eater and prefer cereal or fruit, that’s fine, but most of our guests enjoy our hash browns and eggs…waffles…or pancakes served with crisp bacon or sausage. You can be an “early bird” or to “sleep in” in the morning…if you would rather sleep, coffee is available on the terrace throughout the morning.
A full buffet lunch is served at 12:30 on the terrace which overlooks the swimming pool. Everyone enjoys the casual setting and our delicious food. Helen Rankin developed many of the ranch recipes that we continue to enjoy today. Guests continued to ask about delicious ranch recipes, so we made a cookbook that includes family photos and history with is available in the gift shop.

Evening Patio Party
Each evening before dinner, adult guests gather in “LIGHTNER SQUARE” for our “PATIO PARTY”. We don’t have a liquor license, but guests are welcome to bring their own adult beverage to this quiet gathering. We provide dips, chips and mixes. Shaded by the mulberry tree, you’ll have a great time relaxing and visiting with other guests. Children (during the Regular Season) gather in the recreation room or on the big lawn for fun activities with our counselors during this hour before dinner.
Haywagon Rides & BBQs
Hay Wagon Rides and Barbecues in the meadow are special weekly treats. Each Sunday for lunch, and Wednesday for dinner, you’ll load up in the hay wagon and head to the meadow for a scrumptious barbecue meal. On Sunday…it’s barbecued hamburgers, ranch beans, potato salad and all the trimmings. Our evening meadow supper includes barbecued tri-tip, corn-on-the-cob, ranch beans and more…no one ever leaves hungry. After the meal there’s a Horseshoe Tournament for all ages. The children love flying their homemade kites while out in the meadow.
“One of our favorite activities at the Ranch was going on the hay ride out to the BBQ in the meadow. This is definitely a fun event for both adults and children. The BBQ was absolutely delicious and the horseshoe games were a blast.”
-The Brackin Family
During the summer months, guests love our weekly Steakfry BBQ held on the front lawn of original Rankin Home. Since 1863, generations of Rankins have cherished the same view that guests enjoy while chatting with friends over a delicious steak dinner. (Friday or Saturday night from Father’s Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.)
Special Celebrations
Rankin Ranch is the perfect location for birthdays, anniversaries, and family reunions. If you reserve our entire accommodations for your group, we can plan all our activities to meet your group’s needs. If you let us know is advance, we’re happy to help celebrate birthdays and anniversaries with a cake and a small gift for the special guests of honor. We’ve helped plan several 50th Wedding Anniversaries where the entire family, children and grandchildren, join the special couple for their celebration.
