Get Your Children To Connect With The California Wilderness

December 9th, 2024

A person exploring California Wilderness.

An element of childhood that is sometimes overlooked is children’s learning and connecting with nature. Even if you live in a densely populated metropolitan area, nature is with you no matter where you are, playing a significant role in everyone’s lives. But, it can easily be forgotten when you mostly see paved roads, concrete buildings, and loud automobiles in your day-to-day lives, which is why a vacation in California is the perfect way to reconnect with the wilderness. Get out of the city momentarily and bring your children into the California wilderness at Rankin Ranch

Feel Free On The Ranch

A connection with nature and family is an important aspect of your ranch vacation. Here’s what you can do and see when you stay on the Ranch for your next family getaway.

Acres And Acres For Exploring

That’s what you will find when you step outside at Rankin Ranch. Hike through the lush woods, dense oak and pine mountains, and sprawling meadows. Some highlights include Walker’s Basin Creek and hiking to “Gossip Rock.”

Watching Wildlife

You will see many animals and creatures you can’t see in urban areas very easily. Bring your binoculars and camera to capture the moment when it arises. Some of the critters spotted at the Ranch are cattle roaming freely, coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, deer, quails, horses, and more if you keep your eyes peeled.

Make Some First Memories

Getting hands-on and active is another way to connect better with nature. If your children have never been horseback riding or fishing, it is time to change that. For starters, horseback riding is one of the most popular activities on the Ranch.

We offer one-hour trail rides available to guests aged six and older. This is many people’s first time on a horse, so don’t be afraid to try something new. You probably won’t be alone. Sharing a momentary bond with a horse is a special thing and something that can only happen on a ranch.

Fishing for Rainbow Trout in the Ranch pond is another popular activity. Lake Julia is our stocked pond, and it’s a great fishing spot for anglers of all ages and skill levels. Bring your poles and bait and make a day of it. We allow catch-and-release as long as the fish is unharmed. Or you can bring your catch back to the kitchen staff, and they’ll cook it for you at any meal. Only catch what you can eat.

Bring Family And The Outdoors Together

With the acres of California wilderness at Rankin Ranch, there is something for everyone in your family to enjoy. Bring everyone together for a family-style dinner and share your tales and discoveries throughout the day on the Ranch. You’ll find plenty more activities and nature to see on the Ranch.
